Elvis Has NOT Left the Building

From the stage of the Municipal, the country was rocked by Elvis Presley’s first radio broadcast/performance of “That’s All Right, Mama” which soon became a top ten hit across the country.

Inspired by artist Jane Heggen, Shreveport's Historical Municipal Auditorium hosts the West Edge Artist's Co-op Show "Elvis Has NOT Left The Building". The public is invited to join us in a celebration of our members’ artistic interpretations of the life, legend, and birthday of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll - ELVIS PRESLEY. Come enjoy our birthday celebration and discover that the spirit of Elvis has not left the building!

Seated in the front row of the Municipal Auditorium, through its 80-year history, you could experience the birth and evolution of rock and roll. Walk through these historic halls with our tour guides to hear the tales of history and little known trivia of the legends.

Opening Reception & Silent Auction is on his birthday, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at 5:30 pm at Municipal Auditorium. Silent auction continues through 5:30 pm on Fri., Jan. 30.

For more information or questions call Lynn Laird at 318-458-1666.

Evening of Art

Robert Trudeau and His Work
Desire a rich life? Fill it with art from all disciplines. That's just one thought Robert Trudeau shared with the audience at last night's Evening of Art.

Most folks know Trudeau as the mastermind behind Shreveport.blogspot. He's also a visual artist, a teacher at Caddo Magnet High School, and a man who trips the light fantastic while tasting the adventure of life wherever he treks.

Click for a look at his work (Trudeau encourages artists to take advantage of flickr.com as just one tool to get their work out into the world).
