WEAco Friends, Members and Supporters;
After much deliberation, the Board of Directors has decided that the West Edge Artists' Co-op should cease operations.
With the current state of the economy and the recent budget cuts to art programs statewide, we feel that we as individuals would be more productive and our services better utilized by helping and supporting the Bossier Arts Council and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
WEAco has witnessed a lot of change to the arts community of Bossier City and Shreveport over the last five years and are deeply appreciative of the opportunity we had to be a part of that change.
We wish to sincerely thank everyone that has ever been a Friend, Member or Supporter of WEAco and we want to invite and encourage everyone to follow suit and do their part to Support and Volunteer at the Bossier Arts Council and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. Both are working diligently to improve our arts community and help local artists.
With Sincere Thanks,
The West Edge Artists' Co-op Board of Directors,
Neecee Blackwell
LaTonia Barto
Lynn Laird

Art, It's A Good Thing.
picture by Kathryn Usher
Artists and art lovers please show your support to local artist Pamela Raintree. She recently painted a mural on a friends fence as part of her independent studies course at LSUS in Public Art. The artwork is family friendly and beautifully done. There are murals all over this town on private and public property. Art enhances our community and public art creates interest and appreciation of our town. This may seem small to you now, but it could become a very huge issue for the art community. Please support Pamela and all local artist!
The mural is at Highland and Elmwood.
See Kathryn Usher's video of the mural HERE
Kathryn Says:
"This is the update Pam posted on her Facebook page on Monday April 5, 2010 concerning the controversy ' MURAL UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Monty Walford. He has referred complaints to the City Attorney for an assessment of mural painting legalities. This COULD impact all muralists in Shreveport's jurisdiction.'
"Monty Walford is the council person for District B in Shreveport. How to contact him to tell him you support Pam's mural. I would think this also falls under the rights of a property owner to choose colors and decorations for their property. www.ci.shreveport.la.us/Dept/council/distb.htm"
